for all of God’s worth.

A place to call home,

brings Christians together,

to worship their Lord,

regardless of weather.

An online sermon,
praising the Lord,

as thousands listen,

to hear God’s word.

The set apart church,

for those who choose,

His grace to gain,

their pain to lose.

A gift from above.

this church without walls,

for those like me,

who hear His calls.

In your comfort zone.

however you dress,

just prepare your soul,

no need to stress.

In the peace of home.

you can join others,

from distant lands,

all sisters and brothers.

So happy to meet you,

your heart will soon mend,

what a joyous occasion,

to know your my friend.

A big invitation,

come join us today,

to find your peace,

in this new way.

A Home For Christian Writers Great Contests

For anyone looking for an excellent Christian writers website, there’s some really exciting stuff going on over at Faithwriters.com. I have been a member since February of 2012 now, and my writing career has really taken off. For a novice like me, having two short stories published as well as winning a spot in a Christian testimony publishing contest has been one of my life’s greatest thrills.

Faithwriters.com has even more exciting contests happening right now. There is a chance to win a Xulon publishing package and other prizes. I can’t wait enter the Christian fiction publishing contest myself.

Aside from all these fantastic new contests going on, Faithwriters.com offers a weekly Challenge Contest to all members to hone your writing skills and get professional feedback, and a new blogging contest each month. As a former winner of one of the monthly blogging contests I can tell you it feels really good to win one of those cash prizes.

Membership to this fine site is free for silver membership, but let me assure you, you will want  to upgrade to  a Gold or Platinum membership for a very small monthly fee. Believe me, it is worth its weight in gold for the Christian writer looking for a home. There are many benefits for the upgraded member you won’t find anywhere else on the web.

When I started out on Faithwriters, the only skill for being a writer was the strong desire to be a writer. The wonderful members here showed me the right way to put my writing out there! Essentially, they taught me how to write! I knew I had the words in me, I just didn’t know how to write them with the proper punctuation and in a way that others would want to read them.

You will also make friends from all over the world at Faithwriters.com. People who love Jesus as much as you do and help you grow both in your writing and your faith.

So, come on and stop by Faithwriters.com and see all the awesome things this Christian writers website has to offer. Try the free membership and I guarantee you will want to upgrade in no time. I’ll look forward to seeing you there.

How God Provides For This Bird In The Air

How God Provides For This Bird In The Air

As Christians most of us are familiar with one of the most inspirational Bible verses ever written: “Look at the birds in the air. They do not reap or sow or gather into barns, yet God provides for them. How much more valuable are you to God?”

Before I came to know Christ, I lived my life pretty much as a bird in the air. I didn’t sow much of anything, yet God always provided me with much more than I deserved to reap. I grew up poor in the way of material things, but as I remember it now God always made a way for me. I never went hungry, I was never homeless, and always had every necessity in life.

The most amazing thing is that I wasn’t even a Christian at the time. I lived a sinful life. I know now God had great plans for me, and He knew I would one day find my way to Him. He knew what my future held for me. I did not. Had I known that one day when I was facing almost certain death God would come and save my life as well as my soul, I would have never believed it.

Cancer almost took my life four years ago. When I was given this dire prognosis by the doctors I thought my life was over. After years of living a sorrowful life and wishing I could die, I suddenly wanted to live. So I began to pray, and Jesus came to me in the middle of the night as I lay in the hospital. His gentle voice spoke to me, whispering inspirational words such as ‘I love you, Lynn,’ and ‘I am with you, so do not be afraid.’

That was the point in which my life took a most glorious turn. I found the love I had been searching for all of my lonely life. Forgiveness for a sinful past was mine through a beautiful relationship with Jesus Christ. A heart that was once full of resentment and anger filled up with love and compassion for everyone around it. That compassion even spilled over to those who had treated me badly in the past. They simply do not know Christ.

God not only gave the will to live and the ability to love, He also gave me a strong desire to become a writer. I have found my calling at long last to write what a miracle I am and how God provides for those who choose to follow His way of life. I never thought I could be a writer, but here I am, writing for all the world to see what my Savior had intended for me to be all along.

These days I have all I ever wanted, and more. I don’t have much money, but I have all I need. I don’t have a new car, but I don’t need one. My old one runs like a top. I don’t own a fancy home, but I have a nice place to live. I can’t think of anything I need that God has not provided for me.

Yes, this bird in the air is now a sparrow that has found a house. A house in which my soul lives, loves, thrives, and reaps. Dear Lord, how it reaps! My house is built on a solid foundation. My faith is my foundation, and God will always provide a way for me as long as I trust and believe in Him. God Bless!

A Criminal’s Daughter

On April 25, 1951 at 8:01pm my father was no where to be found. That is the exact date and time of my birth, and he had been missing in action for several weeks. Not one soul claimed to know where he was. Apparently he was not far away because when he heard he had a baby daughter he came to the hospital to see me and was promptly arrested for check fraud.

Welcome to the world, Lynn! After the first four year of my life my mother left my father, and I don’t remember any Christmases up until that time. I certainly don’t remember ever receiving a Christmas present from my father before or after that time.

That was in the 1950’s, and there was not a lot of help for children of inmates or the families of those serving time in prison. Today there is a wonderful organization for that provides parents who are incarcerated at Christmas time with the ability to give Christmas presents to the children they left behind.

It also offers the gospel of Jesus Christ to the inmates and their families, often healing the hearts and minds of the offenders and bringing hope and peace to the children.

Angel Tree was founded by a woman who was a career criminal in the decade of the seventies. She was led to Christ while behind bars and found real purpose in her life by coming up with a program to bring families of those in prison back together.

This wonderful organization works through local churches to provide the good new of Jesus Christ to inmates and find the names of their children, and what they would like for Christmas. The children then receive Christmas presents from their incarcerated parents via the good people of the local churches.

Children who lose a parent to prison love their mother or dad very much. When their lives are disrupted by an incarceration of their loved one they only understand that person is not with them anymore. To receive a Christmas present from that parent lets them know they are still loved regardless of the circumstances.

Many inmates are led to Christ by this wonderful outreach of love through the truth of Christ brought to them through this organization. Their families are brought back together and the minds and souls of the criminals are transformed.

For just a small donation you can give a child who is hurting a wonderful Christmas this year. A child who might otherwise receive nothing can actually receive a present from the one who means the most to them, giving them hope and the faith to believe in a man called Jesus.

Find out how you can help by clicking on Angel Tree and reading about all the wonderful things this Christ filled organization is doing in poverty stricken communities everywhere. In the world today there are many troubled souls, but Jesus can and will lead any child who goes astray back into His fold. I should know. As a criminal’s daughter many pitfalls came my way, and it took many, many years but Jesus always knew I would find my way to His path for me!

Six Thousand Angels

Elizabeth is a twelve year old girl living the slum of Kibera in Africa, where over a half of a million people live in poverty. There is no electricity or running water. Her mother is deceased and her father works odd jobs to make a few shillings. She is fortunate to be alive, as many children die here before the age of six.

The house she lives in is a mud shack. The ground is used for a toilet, bringing stench and diseases. Sewage runs like rivers of water through the village during the rainy season.

Elizabeth can’t go to school because she must stay home and care for her younger brothers and fetch water. She walks quite a distance and must carry heavy containers. She sometimes has to pay for water, so she gets very little. The family goes without washing their hands or bodies because water must be used for drinking.

Due the sanitary conditions, diseases like malaria and dysentery are rampant in the village. Both children and adults get sick and die. Medical help comes from outside and is scarce.

Elizabeth’s four year old brother Dominick is dying. She hears a new clinic on the edge of Kibera has opened, so she literally carries him there. He has severe stomach trouble and is dehydrated. The child moans in agony as the doctor does all she can, but it is too late. God mercifully takes another angel home.

Elizabeth sobs as she steps out of the clinic with her brother’s lifeless body in her arms, and sees a golf course with water sprinklers running over a lush, green, lawn. A high fence separates the rich from the slums of Kibera. Children, water4.org/complex-need/ stand outside the fence watching men play golf, and eyeing the water as it quenches the thirst of the grass. They do not understand.

Dominick is just one of the 6000 children dying in Africa every day. 6000 a day! There is a global water crisis in this world many people are either unaware of or simply choose not to think about. We must do something to help!

In 2008, Dick and Terri Greenly (co owners of Pumps of Oklahoma) founded a public charity called The Water4 Foundation to provide water to impoverished areas such as Kenya, Ghana, Haiti and many others. They not only drill wells at a greatly reduced cost, they also teach the gospel of Christ and get the natives involved by providing them employment opportunities and allowing them to become a part of a solution to their own water shortage problem.

Please go to Water4 and learn more, and then, give! Even the smallest donation will help save a child's life. These are God's most precious angels, and you will be blessed many times over!

Faith in Writing

Faith in Writing
I was in group therapy with eight or nine others. People were talking about their sorrow at their experiences in life. Everyone would listen intently to what the speaker was saying. One lady started talking about the abuse she suffered as a child. Another one spoke of things he had done he was ashamed of. Something inside of me was crying to come out. I had a secret. There was something I had never told a living soul.
When it came to be my turn to talk, the words came spilling out. “I had an abortion in my younger years, and I have never spoken of it to anyone, not even my husband at the time!”
All eyes were on me as I related my story and how that experience had haunted me every day of my life since. I had watched my child grow up in my mind. I would see her at every stage of her life. I was convinced it was a girl. I even had a name for her. The others got misty eyed as I blurted out the words “I murdered my child!”
The counselor of our group suggested I write a letter to my aborted child, telling her of my feelings and how much I grieved for her. I wrote “Angel Interrupted, A Story of Abortion” and read it to the others the next day. There were tears among all of them, and my confession somehow stirred them to open up with secrets of their own. That day was a turning point in several people’s lives, including my own.
I came home that day and started looking for a website that took freelance articles. I felt compelled to get my story out there to others who may be considering abortion. I wanted them to be aware of the consequences I had suffered, and perhaps save at least one child’s life. I somehow stumbled across FaithWriters, I posted “Angel Interrupted” that very day and it has changed my life.
I signed on first as a silver member at writer sign up (it’s free!)and began writing other articles which I would post in the Christian articles section. After the first article, God spoke to me to write about my faith. I have been a born again Christian for three years, and have always wanted to be a writer, but never thought I had the talent to be one. After a while a I became a platinum member and started entering the writing challenge contest every two weeks. A few times my articles and poems actually made into the top half, and I was thrilled!
Now I look back and am amazed at how much my writing has improved in the last six months. I have learned so much from this wonderful website. There is also an amazing Christ filled sight called The Jesus Page that has helped me daily in strengthening my faith. I have also posted some of my articles in the critique circle section and received gentle, constructive reviews from veteran writers that helped me improve my writing.
FaithWriters also brings me paid writing assignments such as the one I now have with Christian News Today. I am a regular writer for them and they even posted my Testimony in their off line publication “Christ and You” which is circulated in India! These opportunities came to me only by way of this wonderful site.
If one is not a writer but simply looking for articles to print, talented writers, or professional editing, please take our Publisher’s tour and see the thousands of articles, stories and poems from our treasure trove of writers. I am a new writer, but we have many, many talented, gifted writers here and I’m sure you will find just what you need.
Just as God compelled my to tell my story of abortion to others at long last, He led me to FaithWriters and to a faith building new life in writing. Everyone involved from the writers to the owners of the site are just wonderful to know and so eager to help you in your passion for writing.
If you feel the need to write about your faith in God and need a place to show it to others, or if you need to learn and grow, and even become a published author, come to FaithWriters.
